Beef on rice

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g onion(s)
  • 200 ml white wine
  • 100 ml water
  • 500 g beef, cut into thin slices
  • 150 ml soy sauce, light
  • 150 ml mirin
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 600 g rice, cooked

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Japanese recipe

Peel the onions, halve them lengthwise, and cut them into half-moon slices. Bring the wine and water to a simmer in a pan and add the beef, skimming off any foam. After 3 minutes, add the soy sauce, mirin, and sugar and continue cooking. After another 3-4 minutes, add the onions and simmer until the meat is cooked and the onions are translucent. Pour the contents of the pan over the rice and serve.
