Beef Saag
The perfect beef saag recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 kg Baby spinach
- 2 piece Red onions
- 5 piece Red peppers
- 1 piece Clove of garlic
- 1 piece Chopped ginger
- 1 Can Peeled tomatoes
- 4 tsp Cumin
- 2 tsp Garam masala
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1 kg Diced beef
- Coarse sea salt
- Pepper from the grinder
- 300 g Basmati rice
- Ideally, the Beef Saag is prepared in a slow cooker. Layer half of the spinach in the slow cooker. Then spread the onions and diced peppers on top and sprinkle the chilli powder on top. Season with a large pinch of salt and pepper. Then put the other half of the spinach on top, press everything down a little and close the lid.
- Now start the slow cooker on a low level and let it simmer gently for 3 hours. Stir occasionally. After the 3 hours, puree the whole thing with a hand blender or in a blender. It is recommended not to puree it very finely. Then put the whole thing back in the slow cooker for 2 more hours.
- In the meantime, the beef cut into bite-sized pieces can be seared in a pan. Then put the meat in the slow cooker and cook for another hour.
- Cook the rice according to the instructions on the package.
