Beef steak with stout sauce

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 3 beef steaks
  • 300 ml beer (stout beer), e.g. Guinness
  • 175 g mushrooms
  • 1 vegetable onion(s)
  • 1 bell pepper(s)
  • 60 g butter
  • 1 small garlic clove(s)
  • salt and pepper
  • oregano
  • 1 bay leaf

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

spicy-malty sauce for beef

Slice the mushrooms. Roughly dice the onions and chop the garlic clove. Melt the butter in a pan and briefly sear the beef steaks on both sides. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano. Remove the steaks from the pan and wrap them in aluminum foil. Add the mushrooms, onions, and garlic to the pan and sear. Then add the stout beer. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano, and add the bay leaf. Simmer for 10 minutes. Slice the bell peppers and add them towards the end of the 10 minutes. If desired, thicken the sauce slightly with flour. Remove the steaks from the aluminum foil and warm them briefly in the sauce. Then serve.
