Beef with onions and broccoli

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g beef fillet(s), optionally steak
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 dashes chili oil
  • 1 piece(s) ginger root, grated
  • 1 tsp Chinese spice mix
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce, dark
  • 250 g broccoli, cut into florets
  • 3 medium-sized onions, roughly diced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce, light
  • 150 ml beef broth
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 4 tsp water
  • 2 spring onions, cut into rings

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 35 minutes

Cut the beef into strips and place in a container. Marinate with garlic, chili oil, ginger, the spice mix, and soy sauce, and refrigerate for 1 hour. Sauté the broccoli and onion pieces with a little oil in a wok for 4-5 minutes, remove from the pan, and set aside. Add a little more oil to the wok and sauté the meat with the marinade for about 5 minutes, until lightly browned. Add the broccoli and onions to the meat in the pan, then stir in the light soy sauce and beef broth. Mix the starch and water until smooth and add to the sauce in the pan. Stir in and thicken until clear, then simmer for another minute. Add the spring onions to the pan and let them simmer briefly. Serve with mie noodles or rice.
