Beggar Man in Alsatian Way
The perfect beggar man in alsatian way recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 300 g White bread, no matter which one
- 5 dl Milk
- 150 g Sugar
- 1 Sachets Vanilla sugar
- 4 drops Vanilla extract
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 120 g Ground almond
- 4 tbsp Cherry water
- 4 Pc. Free range eggs
- 1000 g Cherries fresh black
- 4 tbsp Bread crumbs light
- 40 g Liquid butter
- This is a cake without batter, for a springform pan with a diameter of 26 cm. Can be used with almost all fruits we have, mirabelle plums, apricots, apples, pears, etc … You can also make dark bread, then it will also have a stronger taste and in my opinion the fruit taste will be a bit lost.
Preparations:
- Wash the cherries, drain them, remove the stems, remove the stones, opinions and spirits are divided …. A well-known fact! Cut the leftover bread into small cubes (about 1-2 cm) and place them in a bowl. Bring the milk to the boil over the bread cubes, cover, draw and let cool. Mash the bread into a pulp by hand or with a fork.
The crowd
- Sugar, vanilla sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, almond, kirsch and eggs. Mix in the eggs one at a time and always stir in well. Now we add the cherries and the kirsch and stir it in carefully. Line the bottom of the springform pan with parchment paper and grease the whole pan well with butter. Pour in the mixture, sprinkle with the white bread crumbs, drizzle with liquid butter over the entire area.
To bake :
- approx. 60 minutes, in the bottom groove of the oven preheated to 200 ° C. Cover the cake with aluminum foil after 40-45 minutes, otherwise it will turn dark. An Alsatian Pinot Noir or coffee goes well with it. In winter, after a hearty vegetable soup, it also has its place as a sweet dinner. “Bon appetit à tous”
