Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g butter
  • 375 g brown sugar
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds, ground
  • 1 tbsp coriander, ground
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp anise
  • 1 pinch of sea salt
  • 250 g spelt flour or wheat flour, 630/550
  • 250 g spelt flour or wheat flour (wholemeal)
  • 1 pack of cream of tartar baking powder
  • 2 tbsp water, warm, if necessary

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Christmas spice cookies – caraway is a MUST

Beat the softened butter with the egg and brown sugar until smooth, then add the spices and sea salt. Combine the flour and baking powder and knead well into the sugar mixture. If the dough is too stiff, add a little more warm water. On a floured surface, form the dough into a log (3 cm in diameter) and cut into 3 cm thick slices. Place the slices on a greased baking sheet and bake at 200 °C (electric oven) for about 20-25 minutes.
