Berliner or Kräppel

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 750 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast (or 1 1/2 packets of dry yeast)
  • 250 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 80 g sugar
  • 125 g butter, slightly melted
  • 500 g palm fat, for frying
  • jam
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Knead all ingredients together, then let rise for about 45 minutes. Roll out to about 1 1/2 cm thick and cut out circles using a glass. Place on a cloth, cover, and let rise again (about 15 minutes). Melt the Palmin in a saucepan and heat until hot. Fry the doughnuts in the oil until golden brown. Let cool. Fill with your favorite jam, if desired, or simply roll in sugar or powdered sugar. It’s super quick, except for the rising time, and they taste delicious. Makes about 40 doughnuts.
