  • Processed as juice, blackberries help against hoarseness, are good for the stomach, and have a blood-forming effect. The leaves of the blackberry can also have a healing effect in herbal tea mixtures.
  • With 40 calories per 100 g, blackberries contain comparatively few calories and the fiber pectin fills you up and helps with digestion. The dark color of blackberries is due to secondary plant substances, so-called anthocyanins. These protect against free radicals and have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Blackberries: How to further process the berry

Blackberries not only taste great fresh but can also be processed into a variety of products and preserved. So you can also enjoy the berry outside of the harvest season.

  • While blackberries only keep for a few days in the refrigerator, they can be enjoyed for much longer when frozen. First, wash the berries and then dry them again. It is best to use a freezer bag or bowl for freezing.
  • One option for further processing is juicing. With a special juicer or a juicer, you can make your own juice.
  • You can be sure that the juice does not contain any additives or colorings.
  • Blackberry jam is particularly good for breakfast. You can easily make these from blackberries and preserving sugar in a ratio of 2:1. The blackberries are chopped up in a saucepan, mixed with the preserving sugar, boiled for about four minutes, poured through a sieve, and filled into glasses.
