How to Get Rid of Black Fungus on Windows and Windowsill: 4 Effective Remedies

Black fungus around the window and on the glass itself not only spoils the interior of the room but also harms your health. It can cause coughs or allergies. Mold often appears in homes with high humidity and poor ventilation. You can remove mold with inexpensive home remedies.

How to remove mold from a window

Depending on the age of the mold colony and the affected area, different remedies are used against it.

The first remedy worth trying is undiluted table vinegar. Saturate a sponge liberally in vinegar and wipe all moldy areas. You can also pour the vinegar into a spray bottle and spray the mold. Allow the vinegar to dissolve the mold for an hour and wipe the surface with a clean sponge.

If the vinegar does not help, try a more aggressive product. Use household bleach for this purpose. Mix it with water in a 1:1 ratio. Bleach is effective in killing even old mold. Be sure to wear gloves and ventilate the room when working with bleach. Wipe the moldy area with a mixture of water and bleach and leave it for 30 minutes. Then wipe it off with a clean, damp sponge.

A substance called fungicide works well against mold and mildew. You can buy fungicides at a hardware store. Wipe moldy areas with a sponge soaked in a 1:1 solution of fungicide and water. Wear gloves to do the work.

If you have an ultraviolet lamp – you can illuminate the mold-affected areas with it. The mold will quickly die from the radiation.
