King Cake
Mix the yeast in 125 ml of lukewarm milk and half of the salt, or crumble it in, and let it rise in a warm place. Add the flour, sugar, margarine, eggs, port wine, the remaining milk, and salt, and knead into a dough. Let it rise a second time. Add the fruit, knead well, and let it rise a third time. Form it into a thick roll, place it on a baking sheet in the shape of a wreath with an outer diameter of approximately 30 cm. Don’t forget to put greased baking paper underneath. Spread the dried fruit on the dough, brush the dough and fruit with egg yolk. Important! Place a cup in the center to prevent the dough from sticking together. Bake for half an hour at 180-200°C. Let it cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar.
