Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g leek
  • 500 g yufka dough sheets
  • 300 g natural yogurt
  • 150 g cottage cheese
  • 1 egg(s)
  • Spice(s) as desired
  • Pepperoncini

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

Turkish specialty with Yufka – dough, leek, yogurt and cottage cheese, a kind of strudel

Chop the cleaned leek into small pieces, steam briefly, and then let it cool slightly. Then mix well with the egg and cottage cheese and season to taste. Place the pastry sheets on a baking sheet and brush with the yogurt. Layer several layers on top of each other. Spread the leek mixture on top, then top with several more yogurt-brushed pastry sheets. Bake in the oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes. Finally, cut the börek into about 12 pieces. Tastes great with salad or on its own.
