Bratwurst and vegetable casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 bratwursts, Thuringian
  • 500 g vegetable mix, frozen, e.g. buttered vegetables
  • 1 pack of dumpling dough, half and half, from the refrigerated section
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 100 g Emmental cheese, grated
  • 200 ml cream or milk
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • e.g. paprika powder or Allspiceón de la Vera

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

quick and tasty, topped with dumpling dough

Slice the sausages and briefly fry them in an ovenproof pan. Add the buttered vegetables and simmer gently over medium heat, covered, until the herb butter has melted. Dust with flour and toast again, stirring occasionally. Stir in the cream or milk and season to taste, then stir in the grated cheese. Spread the dumpling batter evenly over the top and bake the casserole at 180 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes. If desired, add the grill for 2 minutes to lightly brown the dumpling layer.
