Saganaki – recipe from the island of Corfu

Turn the feta cheese (in one piece) several times in the ouzo and let it rest for about 10 minutes. In the meantime, mix the breadcrumbs with the spices and herbs and coat a small baking dish with olive oil. Turn the feta cheese several times in the breading until barely any white bits remain. Bake the cheese in the baking dish in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) on the middle rack for about 15 minutes. Enjoy with baguette or salad as a starter, or serve as a side dish to grilled food. Tip: Wrap the saganaki in aluminum foil and grill it on the grill.
