Spread the love

  • 2 oranges
  • 12 shrimp(s)
  • some sugar

  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 8 stalks of thyme

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Simple yet impressive

First, grate the top pith from one orange and set aside. Then peel both oranges so that no white pith remains and cut into thin slices. There should be 3 orange slices per person, which you arrange nicely on plates. Sprinkle the oranges with sugar if desired and drizzle with a few drops of olive oil. Pat the prawns thoroughly dry. Then coat them in breadcrumbs mixed with the orange zest. Since there is no egg to coat them with, you’ll have to help them along a bit. Fry the prawns in a hot pan and place them on the oranges while they are still warm. Garnish with a few thyme leaves and serve. You can serve this with ciabatta or flatbread dipped in oil and fried. If the season is right, you can replace the oranges with blood oranges, which are often too sour.
