Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 pork schnitzels, chicken or turkey schnitzels etc.
  • 1 onion(s)
  • Oil for the mold
  • 100 g bacon cubes, lean
  • 250 g mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 2 gherkins, maybe more, cut into strips
  • 2 bell peppers, cut into strips
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 250 ml broth
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • Tabasco or hot pepper sauce or similar
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder, hot
  • possibly cheese

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Season the schnitzel with salt and pepper and place it in a baking dish. Brown the onion in a lightly greased pan. Add the bacon, mushrooms, gherkins, and bell peppers and fry briefly. Then add the crushed garlic and pour in the broth. Stir in the sour cream and tomato paste. Season to taste with Tabasco, salt, pepper, and paprika. Pour the sauce over the schnitzel in the baking dish. Cook in a hot oven at 170°C fan/convection oven or 200°C top/bottom heat for approximately 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the type of meat. A variation for all cheese lovers: sprinkle some grated cheese on top about 5 minutes before the end of the baking time. Serve with bread, pasta, rice, and much more.
