Brussels sprouts baked with spices, quickly from the microwave

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g Brussels sprouts, frozen
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp spice mix (herb butter spice)
  • 3 tbsp goose fat
  • 1 pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 8 minutes; Total time approx. 13 minutes

Pre-cook the Brussels sprouts in the microwave for about 5 minutes at 700 watts with the seasoning, lard, and salt. Tip: I use a Tupperware container with a lid/vent for this. Remove the Brussels sprouts from the microwave and remove the lid. Spread the cheese evenly over the vegetables and bake the vegetables uncovered for another 3 minutes at 700 watts. The Brussels sprouts are delicious as a side dish or with pasta. Tip: I used homemade goose fat left over from Christmas; you could also use pork fat from the supermarket or butter, although lard gives a better flavor. I use the Ankerkraut spice mix; it’s not as salty. You can use natural sea salt if you like.
