Brussels sprouts with ham cubes

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg Brussels sprouts
  • 1 pack of lean diced ham, approx. 100-125 g
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp butter, can also be omitted

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Side dish, quick to make

Trim the Brussels sprouts, make a small cross-shaped cut at the base of the stalk, and wash them. Place them in a pot and pour in enough water to cover the bottom of the pot by about 1/2 cm. Stir in the diced ham and scatter the butter in small flakes over the sprouts. Cook until tender, taking care not to burn. Finally, evaporate the remaining water at a high temperature. If too much water evaporates during cooking, add a little more. Ideally, all the water should be evaporated by the end of the cooking time. The cooking time depends on personal preference regarding firmness and the size of the florets; 10 minutes is a guideline for crisp, medium-sized Brussels sprouts.
