Brussels sprouts Zanzibar style

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 bag of Brussels sprouts, approx. 750 g
  • 3 potatoes
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 3 cm ginger root
  • 5 cardamom pods
  • 20 g seitan
  • salt and pepper
  • chili powder
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Finely chop the onions and ginger. Trim the Brussels sprouts and cut a cross into the stalk. Cut the seitan and potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Sauté the onions in a little oil until translucent. Add the ginger, potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. Deglaze with a little water to prevent burning. Remove the cardamom pods and add them. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. When the potatoes are tender, add the diced seitan and simmer for 3 minutes. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and a little chili. Serve with rice.
