Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 g minced beef
- 1 onion(s)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 kg white cabbage
- Tomato paste
- Salt and pepper, black
- some sauce thickener
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes
Fry the minced meat until crumbly. Dice the onion, press through the garlic, and add both to the minced meat. Once it’s nicely browned, continue frying until the onion is golden brown. Roughly dice the white cabbage and add to the minced meat. Continue frying until the cabbage is lightly browned. Add about 3 tablespoons of tomato paste (if you don’t have any, I use tomato ketchup instead) and fry it too. Pour in about 1 liter of water and season with salt and pepper. Close the lid and simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes. Thicken it slightly with a sauce thickener. I serve it with boiled potatoes. Tip: As a variation, you can also add diced raw potatoes and cook it as a stew. Tastes like cabbage rolls, but requires less work. I love eating cabbage rolls, so I came up with this recipe due to a lack of time.
