  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • Butter, for the baking tray

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Sweet and delicious – just stir

Put all the ingredients in a saucepan or large frying pan and turn the heat up to the highest setting. Everything will start to melt, and you’ll need to stir (constantly) until the mixture turns a hazelnut-brown color. Then either drop it onto a greased baking sheet or, as I always do, onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If you don’t want to break the candies into pieces, you’ll need to start cutting them right away, as they’ll harden pretty quickly. It already smells delicious, but be careful, they’ll be very hot for a while. So don’t put them where small children can reach them. Another tip: If you turn the heat down, you run the risk of them taking much longer and tasting slightly burnt (from my own experience).
