Caramelized shallots

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g shallot(s), small or small onions
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

with honey and balsamic vinegar

Pour boiling water over the shallots to make them easier to peel. Combine the oil and honey and add to a pan. Brown the peeled shallots, stirring the pan several times. Deglaze with balsamic vinegar and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, until the shallots are soft, lightly browned, and coated with the honey glaze. Store in a tightly sealed jar in the refrigerator for several weeks.
