Cauliflower and broccoli vegetable casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 small cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 400 g broccoli, also divided into florets
  • 200 g carrot(s), finely diced
  • 200 g cooked ham, cut into strips or diced
  • 50 g butter
  • 30 g flour
  • 250 ml cream
  • 125 ml milk
  • 120 g cheese, grated
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Vegetable gratin with cooked ham

Cook the vegetables in boiling salted water, first the cauliflower, then the carrots, and then the broccoli until al dente. Drain. Place the vegetables in the dish and sprinkle with the cooked ham. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the flour, and sauté until light brown. Pour in the cream and milk, stirring constantly. Simmer for about 3 minutes. Stir in the cheese and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour the cheese sauce over the vegetables and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 15 minutes.
