Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 800 g cauliflower, fresh
- 150 ml cream
- 100 ml milk
- 50 g Gouda, grated
- some sea salt
- Nutmeg, freshly grated
- some lemon juice
- 100 g cooked ham
- possibly sauce thickener, lighter
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes
Clean and wash the cauliflower, cut it into florets, and cook it in lightly salted water for about 10 minutes until not too soft. Then set it aside. Mix the cream and milk, heat it up, and add the cheese. Stir until the cheese has melted. Season with salt, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cut the ham into thin strips and add it. Drain the cauliflower, arrange it on plates, and cover it with the sauce. Boiled potatoes are a good side dish. Tip: If you like, you can add a little white sauce thickener to the heated cream and milk mixture. This prevents it from curdling. As a variation, you can also drain the cauliflower florets and place them in a greased casserole dish, cover them with the ham sauce, sprinkle with grated cheese, and bake at 160°C for about 20 minutes.
