As before, surprisingly few energy consumers change their gas supplier, even though the energy market was liberalized many years ago. Many energy consumers have very unfavorable tariffs – with minimal effort, you can save a lot of money here.
Switch gas suppliers and save money – that’s how easy it is to do
- First, check how much gas you use on average per year. Since gas consumption in particular, in contrast to electricity consumption, can be subject to strong weather-related fluctuations, look for the final bills for the last few years.
- After you have determined your average gas consumption, you can easily compare the offers of the different gas suppliers.
- In addition to the tariffs listed, you will also find a tariff calculator at almost all gas suppliers. After you have entered your average gas consumption in the tariff calculator, you will be shown the tariffs that apply to you.
- In addition, all major gas suppliers have a service hotline where you can get advice. Tip: Do not immediately tell the customer advisor that you favor a certain tariff. It is better to leave everything open at the beginning of the conversation and first listen to what the employee advises you. He may have a better tariff for you that he will not suggest if you direct the conversation to a specific gas tariff from the start.
- By the way: Since it is very tedious to ask every gas supplier a price request, you will find a gas comparison calculator on CHIP. Here you can see an overview of all gas tariffs and are sure to find the best price.
- You should also take another close look at your previous gas supplier. Often you will also discover cheaper gas tariffs than the one in which you are currently classified.
- The search for the optimal gas tariff is basically the most strenuous part of switching energy providers. You no longer have to worry about the change yourself, as the new gas provider will usually do this for you.
- The only thing you have to do is make sure that you give your old gas supplier a notice period. Once that has been clarified, give your new energy supplier your data and they will take care of the termination formalities with your previous gas supplier.
