Cheese Borek Farfallerina

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 pts. puff pastry
  • 200 g feta cheese
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 150 g natural yogurt
  • 50 ml milk
  • 1 pinch(s) of salt and pepper
  • 1 pinch of garlic powder
  • 1 pinch(s) black cumin
  • 3 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Combine the egg, yogurt, olive oil, and milk in a deep mixing bowl. Add the salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and mix everything with a hand mixer until a creamy sauce forms. Then, on a plate, crush the feta cheese with a fork. Place the first puff pastry sheet on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and spread 1/4 of the sauce on one half. Then, add 1/3 of the crushed feta cheese. Then, fold the puff pastry sheet closed, spread the top layer with another 1/4 of the sauce, and then add 1/3 of the feta cheese. Then, place the second puff pastry sheet on top, covering it evenly, and repeat with the third layer. Then, fold the second puff pastry sheet closed, and the fourth layer is simply spread with the sauce. Sprinkle black cumin seeds, if desired, over the top layer and bake the börek for about 20 minutes at 180°C. Since puff pastry tends to rise during baking, I would recommend choosing one of the lower racks for your börek.
