Cheese casserole

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1 pack of toast bread (500g)
  • 500 g cheese (Edam), grated
  • 500 g ham, cooked
  • 500 g mushrooms
  • 7 eggs
  • 1 liter of milk
  • salt and pepper
  • butter
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Finely dice the toast and ham, finely chop the mushrooms (fresh or canned), mix with the grated cheese, and spread on a deep baking sheet lined with butter or parchment paper. Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg and pour over the baking sheet. The bread should be thoroughly soaked. Sprinkle a few knobs of butter on the baking sheet. Bake at 180°C for 40-45 minutes until golden brown. It also tastes good cold.
