Cheese Crackers

The perfect cheese crackers recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 100 g Grated Gouda (also more spicy)
  • 70 g Butter at room temperature
  • 200 g Flour
  • 0,75 tsp Salt (amount depending on the type of cheese used)
  • 0,75 tsp Onion powder
  • 0,5 tsp Sweet paprika
  • 80 ml Water cold
  1. Put the cheese, butter, flour, salt, onion powder and paprika in a bowl and knead until crumbly with the dough hook of the hand mixer. Then pour in the cold water and continue kneading until the mass begins to combine with each other. Then pour it onto a mat and continue kneading with your hands until you have a smooth, elastic dough that is easy to shape.
  2. Shape this into a roll 4 cm thick, wrap it in cling film and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 180 ° convection. Line 2 baking sheets with baking paper.
  4. Cut the set rolling pin into 2 – 3 mm thin slices and place them tightly on the baking sheet. Prick the slices several times with a fork (so that they do not bulge when baking). Put the tray in the middle of the oven and bake the crackers for 15 minutes until golden.
  5. When they are all ready, place them on the tray again and let them “dry” in the switched off but still warm oven.
  6. A not so high calorie alternative to chips …….. 😉
  7. The above quantity is sufficient for 2 trays. If you use a very spicy cheese, try the amount of salt yourself.
