Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 handfuls of oven-baked French fries
- 6 tbsp processed cheese
- 4 slices of mountain cheese
- 12 slices of bacon
- 4 onions
- Sugar
- pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes
with caramelized onions and bacon crumbles
Preheat the oven to 220°C (top/bottom heat). Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Spread the fries evenly on it and place in the oven for about 25 minutes. In the meantime, peel the onions and slice them thinly. Heat a pan and fry the bacon on both sides without any fat until crispy and brown. Remove from the pan and drain on kitchen paper. When the bacon slices are cold, crumble them. Add a little oil to the pan and fry the onion rings until well browned. Sprinkle a pinch of sugar over them and let them caramelize. Remove from the pan and drain on kitchen paper. When the fries are ready, transfer them to one large or two small baking dishes and top with dollops of the melted cheese. Roughly tear the cheese and sprinkle it on top. Bake the fries for another 10-15 minutes on the middle rack. Garnish with bacon crumbles and caramelized onion rings and finally sprinkle with some pepper.
