Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 rolls, old
  • 500 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 50 g butter
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 kg cherry(s), sweet pitted
  • 75 g sugar
  • Cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

First, slice the rolls, place them in a bowl, and pour the lukewarm milk over them. Let them sit for about 10 minutes. Beat the butter, egg yolks, and sugar and fold this mixture into the softened rolls. Now beat the egg whites until fluffy and fold them in. Then add the pitted cherries and mix them in. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, top with a few more pieces of butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit) and bake the casserole for about 45 minutes.
