Chestnut Brussels sprouts with bacon

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g Brussels sprouts
  • 50 g bacon, streaky, sliced
  • 150 g chestnuts (vacuum-packed, cooked)
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • some salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Clean the Brussels sprouts, removing the outer leaves. Thinly slice the stems and make a cross-shaped cut in the florets where they meet. Halve large florets. Cook the Brussels sprouts in boiling salted water for 8 to 10 minutes, drain well, and rinse well. Cut the bacon into thin strips. Halve the chestnuts, depending on their size. Fry the bacon in a dry pan until crispy. Add butter and melt. Add the chestnuts and a pinch of sugar and fry for 2 minutes. Stir in the sprouts and season with salt and pepper.
