Chicken Gumbo with Okra
The perfect chicken gumbo with okra recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 2 piece Onion
- 0,5 piece Red peppers
- 1 piece Green peppers
- 1 piece Celeriac
- 1 Bit Chinese garlic
- 125 ml Olive oil
- 5 tbsp Flour
- 4 piece Tomatoes, about 250 gr.
- Salt
- Black pepper from the mill
- 1,2 liter Chicken broth
- 500 ml Tomatoes happened
- 400 g Chicken breast fillet
- 250 g Okra pods
- 5 tbsp Rice
- 4 piece Merquez sausage
- Creme fraiche Cheese
- Peel the onion and garlic and finely dice. Peel the celery stalks and cut into fine pieces. Peel, core and finely dice tomatoes. Halve the paprika, remove the core, also remove the white partitions and then cut into small pieces. Clean the okra and cut into pieces. Rinse the chicken breast fillet with cold water, pat dry and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat the olive oil and stir in the flour and make a light brown roux while stirring constantly. Now add the paprika, onion, garlic and celery cubes and sweat everything well. Take the pot off the stove and slowly pour in the hot broth (always move the wooden spoon along the bottom so that the flour dissolves) and always stir slowly …
- Put the pot back on the stove. Add the chicken, rice, tomato pieces, strained tomatoes and okra and season with salt and pepper (or with Mediterranean aroma puree) and simmer gently on a low heat until the okra are soft (approx. 15 minutes)
- In the meantime, cut the Merquez sausages into finger-thick slices and fry them in a pan. After frying, add the pieces of sausage to the soup, dissolve the roasted substances with a little water and also add to the soup.
- Put the finished soup in a soup cup and garnish with a dollop of crème fraîche ….. enjoy your meal …..
- If you want it spicier, you can add Pul Biber to your taste. The party pot is easy to prepare and tastes better when it is warmed up.

- The recipe has been read, I hope ;-)))) Now I would be very happy if you would also leave a comment. For example, I’m interested in whether you might know something different? whether you liked it the way I cooked it or whether it is not your taste at all, it would be very nice if I could find out, because that’s the only way I can improve
