Chicken toastie

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 rolls (wheat toasties)
  • 2 slices of Gouda
  • 2 leaves of iceberg lettuce
  • 2 slices of chicken schnitzel
  • Flour
  • 1 egg(s)
  • Breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 6 minutes; Total time approx. 21 minutes

First, season one side of the chicken with salt and pepper. Whisk the egg. Coat the chicken fillet first in flour, then in the egg, and then in the breadcrumbs. Fry the chicken in margarine in a pan at a slightly higher temperature for about 6 minutes, turning every two minutes. Toast both slices of the toastie at the same heat until lightly browned. Quickly place the cheese on the toastie and let it melt slightly. Wash the lettuce and place it on the toastie, then add the chicken. I like to just add a little mayonnaise. You could also add ketchup, tomato, or bacon.
