Chicory in ham, baked

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 chicory
  • 4 slice(s) ham, raw
  • 1 onion(s)
  • some bacon, diced
  • 500 g cream
  • 2 packs of ready-made mix for light sauce (Dutch style)
  • salt and pepper
  • butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Cook the chicory in a little salted water for a few minutes. Sauté the diced onions in a pan with butter until translucent. Add the bacon. Sauté together briefly, then add the cream. Thicken with the sauce packet until the sauce has a very thick consistency. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Drain the chicory and squeeze out excess water (preferably with a towel). Wrap it in a slice of raw ham, remove the stalk, and place it in a baking dish. Pour over the prepared sauce and bake in the oven at 180°C (fan oven) until a light brown coating forms (approx. 15 minutes). Then divide the chicory between plates. Mix the sauce in the baking dish again with the water that has dripped out of the chicory, and season if desired. Boiled potatoes are a good side dish.
