Chicory Steamed with Shrimp

The perfect chicory steamed with shrimp recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients for the Asian sauce

  • 100 g Shrimps, crabs, prawns from the refrigerated shelf
  • 50 ml Fish stock from the glass
  • 4 tbsp Sweat chili sauce
  • 4 tbsp Soy sauce, light
  • 1 tsp Red chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp Ground ginger
  • 1 tsp Ground turmeric spice
  • Salt, pepper from the mill

  1. Mix all ingredients well in a bowl as described above.

Prepare chicory

  1. Separate the outer leaves (if necessary), clean and wash the chicory, pat dry and cut it in half lengthways. Cut the stalk out in a wedge shape, it could taste a bit bitter. My variety tasted milder.

  1. Heat the sauce in a (coated) pan, insert the chicory and steam both sides for about 3-5 minutes. (Depending on size). Add the crabs and heat. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Place the chicory halves on a plate and pour the Asian shrimp sauce over them.
