Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 150 g cheese, e.g. Cheddar, Swiss cheese (Gruyere Original) or Austrian Rüblirebell
  • 1 large chili pepper(s) or approx. 50 – 55 g jalapeños, deseeded and finely chopped
  • 1 egg(s)
  • some salt and pepper, to taste
  • some chili powder, optional
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumbs

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 minutes; Total time approx. 27 minutes

Grate the cheese finely and mix it with the finely chopped chili pepper or jalapeños, forming a “cheese dough.” Divide the cheese and chili mixture into 12 portions and shape them into nuggets. Whisk the egg with pepper, salt, and chili powder. Coat each nugget evenly with the egg mixture, then with the flour, again with the egg mixture, and finally with the breadcrumbs. Deep-fry the chili cheese nuggets until the cheese is melted inside and the outside is golden brown. This takes approximately 1-2 minutes at 170°C.
