Christmas Roast – Spiced Ham
The perfect christmas roast – spiced ham recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 3 kg Pork ham (ma) cured
- 1 Onion
- 1 Fennel bulbs with green
- 3 Peeled garlic clove
- 2 tbsp Fennel seeds
- 1 tbsp Colorful peppercorns
- 2 Pc. Star anise
- 250 ml Red wine
- 250 ml Water
- Casting for the crust:
- 2 tbsp Currant jelly
- 1 tsp Hot paprika powder
- 1 Msp Cinammon
- 3 tbsp Red wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar old
- Cloves
- Put the ham in a large saucepan. Peel and halve the onion and add all the ingredients to the meat so that it is well covered. otherwise fill up with the liquids.
- Let the whole simmer for 3 to 31/2 hours.
- Remove from the kettle and let cool down a little. Separate the hard rind and cut into the bacon underneath in a diamond shape.
- Put in an ovenproof baking dish. Decorate the interfaces with cloves. Mix the ingredients together in a small cauldron and simmer briefly. Brush the fat side with it.
- Bake the whole thing under the grill until golden brown.
- Serve warm or slice as roast meats after cooling.
