with nuts, makes about 50 cookies

If you aren’t using pre-ground nuts, chop them up finely. Mix the flour with the sugar and cinnamon. Add the nuts and knead everything into a dough with the cubed butter. Form one or two logs of approximately 3 cm in diameter from the dough and chill them for one hour. Then cut the cold logs into 1.5 cm thick slices and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Sprinkle the cookies with a little brown sugar and place a slivered almond in the center of each one. Bake the cookies in a preheated (175 °C) oven for about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate in a water bath. Spread the chocolate on the edges of the cooled cookies and let it dry. If you want it even nuttier, you can stir hazelnut butter or other nut butter into the chocolate coating.
