Christmas turkey

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 4 ½ kg turkey
  • 1 kg potatoes, diced
  • 250 g diced ham
  • 250 g onion(s), finely chopped
  • marjoram
  • Thyme
  • rosemary
  • 100 g herb butter
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

This turkey is simple, but brilliant with the stuffing. Wash the turkey, pat it dry. Loosen the breast skin with your fingers and spread the herb butter under the skin on the breast meat. Season the turkey inside and out with salt and pepper. For the stuffing, dice the potatoes and cook for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in a large pan, fry the onions, diced ham and, if using, the giblets such as liver and heart (not gizzards!) in a little oil until crispy, then add the almost tender potatoes. Now mix well with salt, pepper, marjoram, thyme and rosemary in the pan. Stuff the mixture into the turkey and secure with toothpicks and kitchen string. Roast the turkey in a roasting pan or on the grill at 180 degrees for 1 hour per kg. The stuffing replaces the side dish and tastes fantastic.
