Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 70 g butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4 m.-sized eggs
  • 1 tsp brandy
  • 200 g flour, (405)
  • Sugar
  • chocolate sauce
  • Oil for frying (possibly olive oil)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Spanish specialty

Combine the butter, 1/4 liter of water, and the salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Add the flour all at once and mix vigorously. Continue stirring over medium heat until the dough pulls away from the pan and is smooth. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Gradually beat in the eggs. Add the brandy. Heat the oil and fill a piping bag with the dough. Drop approximately 15 cm long strands of dough into the oil and fry until golden brown. Drain the pastries on kitchen paper. Serve the churros warm, garnished with sugar and chocolate sauce.
