Ciabatta casserole with Parmesan

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500g ciabatta
  • 100 g Parmesan
  • 5 m.-sized eggs
  • 100 ml milk
  • 100 g whipped cream
  • 150 g crème fraîche
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • 50 g butter, soft

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Mediterranean

Whisk the eggs, milk, cream, and crème fraîche until fluffy (using a hand mixer). Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and stir in 3/4 of the grated Parmesan cheese. Slice the bread finger-thick and spread with butter. Arrange the layers tightly together in a greased dish. Pour half of the egg and cream over the bread and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then pour the remaining egg and cream over the bread and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese. Bake at 175°C for 45 minutes.
