Fettunta

Cut the stale bread roll in half crosswise and toast it cut-side down. Rub it with a garlic clove, season with salt and pepper, and drizzle with plenty of olive oil. You can smooth the oil with a knife to help it penetrate evenly. Fettunta is a wonderful side dish with Black Forest ham, cheese, tomatoes, broccoli, olives, peperonata, and anything else your kitchen can throw at it.
