Cleaning The Baking Sheet: Tips and Household Remedies

With salt against the soiling of the baking sheet

Salt has always proven itself in bakeries to remove coarse soiling from the baking sheet. You can also use this method at home:

  1. Spill about half of a standard packet of salt onto the baking sheet. Try to distribute the salt as evenly as possible.
  2. Now put the salt in the oven at around 50 degrees and let the salt brown slightly on the surface.
  3. Remove the baking sheet and pour out the salt. Carefully scrape the salt and dirt off the tin.
  4. Then all you have to do is rinse the baking sheet under lukewarm water and it looks almost like new.

Baking soda removes fat from the baking sheet

Another method is to use baking soda to get rid of dirt and grime on the baking sheet:

  1. Place the baking sheet in the bathtub or other sufficiently large tub. Alternatively, the shower is also suitable. Run lukewarm water to cover the baking sheet.
  2. Now add about a packet of baking soda to the water and let the mixture work for a few minutes.
  3. Then you should take a sponge and free the baking soda in the tub from the dirt.
  4. Finally, rinse the baking sheet again under lukewarm water before using it again.

What helps against coarse dirt on the baking sheet?

  • Basically, you should always fight dirt on the baking sheet with warm water, because this is the only way to loosen the dirt.
  • If you are dealing with stubborn dirt, it is best to soak the baking tray overnight. Wipe clean with old newspaper the next day.
  • If nothing else helps, you should use special sprays, such as a grease-dissolving oven cleaner.
