Cleaning the silicone mold: How to do it right
It is best to clean the silicone mold immediately after use. This prevents the leftovers from drying out in the pan.
- In most cases, it is then sufficient to rinse the mold under warm water and to clean it with washing-up liquid and a sponge. This is how you get into the cracks of the mold.
- If the baking residue has already settled, it is best to fill the mold with hot water and a little washing-up liquid. Let the whole thing soak a bit. The dirt should then be easy to remove.
- For particularly stubborn leftovers, adding baking soda to the hot water will also help.
- It is also no problem to put the baking pan in the dishwasher. Most are suitable for this. However, note the manufacturer’s instructions for the product. Certain flushing programs may not be suitable for silicone.
Instructions for cleaning and using the silicone mold
The silicone mold is a practical product for the baking kitchen. The material is easy to use and allows cakes and muffins to be easily demoulded. Due to the special material, however, you should observe a few instructions.
- For example, you should not use steel wire or brushes to clean the mold. Because these would damage the upper material of the mold with their hard fibers and bristles.
- As a result, the characteristic non-stick surface of the silicone breaks and you can no longer use the mold as usual.
- If you bake a lot with the mold, after a while it happens that the inner surface of the silicone becomes more and more greasy. You don’t necessarily have to get rid of this greasy film.
- But if that bothers you, you can put the silicone mold in a saltwater bath. Boil it briefly and add to the baking pan.
