A little pasta water in the sauce
Add a little of the pasta water to the sauce or pesto to bind. The result: The sauce becomes nice and creamy thanks to the dissolved starch.
Use the pasta water for cooking
The noodles are ready, but you haven’t started cooking yet. If the eggs for the salad are still missing, boil them in the hot pasta water. This saves water and energy.
Rinse with pasta water
They pour the noodles off in the sink anyway. Use the stopper and catch the water. So you can immediately wash your dishes in hot pasta water. The starch that has migrated from the noodles into the water acts like a washing-up liquid.
Pasta water makes hair beautiful
It really works: pour the – naturally cooled – pasta water over your hair and you have a cheap hair treatment. Simply leave it on for ten minutes and then rinse it out, your hair will be wonderfully soft and supple.
Pasta water for the flowers
If you use lukewarm pasta water to water the flowers, the plants will be happy about the extra portion of minerals that are dissolved in the water. The still hot water, on the other hand, is an old household remedy against weeds in the paved yard. In the past, the hot pasta water was simply poured onto the weeds that died from the heat.
