Clean and cut the mushrooms properly
- To prevent the mushrooms from soaking up water, you should only clean the mushrooms dry. Simply remove coarse dirt with a towel or kitchen paper.
- Now cut off the dry ends of the mushrooms. A few millimeters are enough. Mushrooms with bruises don’t have to end up straight in the trash can. Dark spots can be easily cut off.
- Now place the mushroom, stem side down, on a board. Depending on your taste, you can cut the slices thicker or thinner. A subsequent cross-section through all panes is of course also possible.
- Tip: Keep in mind that mushrooms lose a large part of their volume during frying and cooking. If you want to find the mushrooms again later in the meal, you should not cut too thin slices.
Life hack: Cut mushrooms for the lazy
- With just a few mushrooms, the job is done quickly. However, if you have a whole mountain of mushrooms in front of you, you can make your work much easier.
- The knife is simply replaced with an egg slicer. Only very large specimens do not fit in the egg slicer. Of course, you should also cut off the ends of the mushrooms beforehand.
