Cooking artichokes in the microwave

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 large artichoke(s), e.g. Camus or Castel
  • 200 ml water for method 1

Instructions

Working time approx. 2 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 8 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Cut or break off the artichoke stem. Remove any unsightly leaves at the bottom. Wash the artichoke under running water. Method 1: Place the artichoke in a microwave-safe dish, add the water, and cook at 900W for 8 minutes. Allow 12 minutes for 2 artichokes. Allow to cool to lukewarm before eating. Method 2: Wrap the artichoke in microwave-safe cling film. It must be tightly sealed. Weigh the artichoke and cook for 1 minute per 100g at 900-1000W. So, a 300g artichoke = 3 minutes cooking time. Unwrap and allow to cool to lukewarm before eating. In the meantime, you can prepare your desired vinaigrette or other sauce for dipping the leaves.
