How to cook bagged rice in a saucepan
It is best if you check the instructions on the packet before preparing it, as this is where you will find the cooking instructions for the rice in question. This varies depending on the brand and variety. If you have misplaced them, you can make regular rice in the cooking pot as follows:
- Fill the pot with at least a liter of water and add a pinch of salt if you like.
- Boil the water and put the rice in the bag.
- Wait about 10 to 15 minutes for the rice to cook. You can recognize the finished rice by the fact that it now completely fills the bag.
- For example, take the bag out of the water with a fork, let it drain a little, and then use scissors to cut open the top. Caution: the bag is very hot.
- Put the rice directly on the plate or in a bowl. One bag is usually enough for two servings.

Alternatively, you can also cook many types of rice in the microwave. You can find out how to do this here:
- Take a microwave-safe bowl and fill it with water.
- Add the rice to the bag and cover the bowl.
- Cook the rice at around 600 to 900 watts. Preparation in the microwave also takes between 10 and 15 minutes.
- Take out the bowl with oven mitts and carefully open the pouch with the scissors. You can then put the rice on the plate and eat it straight away.
