Crispy sticks with poppy seeds or sesame

Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • ⅛ liter milk
  • 250 g flour
  • ½ pack of yeast (dry yeast)
  • 100 g butter or margarine
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp water
  • Poppy or sesame seeds

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Heat the milk, stirring constantly! (It should only be lukewarm). Mix the flour and yeast, then add the milk, salt, and softened butter. Knead these ingredients well. Sprinkle the table or worktop with flour and spread the dough out on it. Now you can cut the dough into thin strips. Form the dough strips into finger-thick, approximately 12cm long sticks. Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites and mix the egg yolk with water. This is best done with a fork. You now need to preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius (425 degrees Fahrenheit), mark 4-5! Now place the dough sticks on the baking sheet and brush them with the egg yolk and water mixture. You can now sprinkle poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or caraway seeds on the sticks. The sticks now need to bake in the preheated oven for another 10 to 15 minutes, then they are ready.
