Currywurst sauce Berlin style

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 ml water
  • 100 g tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp, heaped curry powder
  • 1 tsp, heaped paprika powder, sweet
  • 1 tbsp, levelled sugar, brown sugar
  • 1 tsp, leveled broth
  • 2 tsp sambal oelek
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 300 ml tomato ketchup
  • ½ tsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Heat the water in a pot. Slowly bring the tomato paste, curry powder, paprika, sugar, sambal oelek, soy sauce, and salt to a boil while stirring. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the tomato ketchup and vinegar and bring back to a boil. Tip: I recommend buying a higher-quality tomato paste, which makes the sauce a bit fruitier, as cheap tomato paste tends to taste bitter. You can adjust the spiciness to your liking with the sambal oelek, and the consistency with the water.
