Dad's onion cake

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • ½ cube of yeast, fresh
  • 150 ml water, warm
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 100 g butter for the topping
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 300 g sour cream
  • 150 g bacon, diced
  • 500 g onion(s), cut into rings
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

For the dough, combine flour, water, oil, and salt into a smooth dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 15 minutes. Then roll out onto a prepared baking sheet. For the topping, beat the butter until creamy, then add the egg yolk and sour cream. Spread the onions, bacon, and caraway seeds over the dough. Pour the egg yolk and sour cream mixture over the dough. Let rise for another 15 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 35 minutes and serve warm. Serve with a “new sweet” beer such as Federweißer or Roter Sauser.
